Jennifer Novak-Haar, piano
Jennifer Novak Haar is an active pianist throughout the United States and beyond in a wide variety of genres. As a classical pianist, she frequently plays with the Omaha, Lincoln, Sioux City, and South Dakota symphony orchestras, the Omaha Chamber Music Society, and for other professional organizations in the area. She also collaborates with guest artists, faculty, and students at music schools throughout the Midwest and was an official accompanist for the International Piccolo Symposium and the International Horn Competition of America. She has music-directed shows at the Omaha Community Playhouse, the Performing Artists Repertory Theatre, and the TADA Theatre in Lincoln and plays keyboard for Broadway touring productions as well as local theater. Jennifer performs in a variety of jazz combos, including her own group, Novak & Haar, as well as with several jazz vocalists on the Nebraska Arts Council touring roster.
Jennifer has toured nationally with the Irish group Fír and with Mannheim Steamroller Christmas. Internationally, she performed at the Kulturnacht in Braunschweig, Germany, toured throughout Bavaria through Lord Yehudi Menuhin’s “Live Music Now” program, and recently returned from a concert tour in Mexico. She is looking forward to performing in Tanzania in January. She is currently working on recording a large catalog of accompaniment tracks for Vocal Piano Tracks.
Jennifer holds a bachelor of music in piano performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Monique Duphil. She was a Fulbright scholar at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg, Germany, and also studied collaborative piano with both an instrumental and vocal emphasis at the Cleveland Institute of Music. She studied jazz improvisation with Gary Burton and is working toward a professional certificate through Berklee’s online program. Jennifer is also a photographer and is married to bassist Mark Haar..
